Forum of Patrons

The Forum of Patrons is convened and chaired by the ISC President.

Comprised of a number of outstanding individuals from different sectors, the Forum of Patrons helps the Council with advice, name recognition and credibility within and beyond the scientific world.

A Patron to the ISC is a prestigious title given to those who support science as a global public good, by dedicating their time to promote science and its potential to deliver knowledge which can inform transformative political and wider societal responses to contemporary global challenges.

The Council’s patrons are Irina Bokova, Bulgarian politician and diplomat and Former Director-General of UNESCO; Mary Robinson, Chair of The Elders, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights; Ismail Serageldin, Founding Director and Emeritus Librarian of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, and internet pioneer Vinton G. Cerf.

New patrons will continue to be appointed in 2022 and beyond.
